Earth Day, 2008
Konterra Development teamed with the Anacostia Watershed Society and community volunteers for a “River Party,” which took place on Saturday, April 26, 2008 in support of Earth Day. The River Party took place at Indian Creek, a tributary of the Anacostia River. Volunteers spent the morning cleaning trash and removing debris to help restore the site. These efforts, in combination with our commitment to using sustainable development practices, will ultimately help to clean up the Anacostia River and the larger Chesapeake Bay watershed.
The Earth Day clean up was coordinated by the Anacostia Watershed Society, a local, non-profit environmental organization that is working to protect and restore the Anacostia River and its watershed. After the Earth Day clean up, a rally and “Green Dance” event was held in Southeast Washington DC.
The Indian Creek Restoration was a huge success and Konterra looks forward to future events that help restore and protect the greater Prince George’s County environment.
